Who doesn’t like Sundays? Fun with your infants.

Because the weather was really bad, this Sunday was all about cooking and family fun time. I decided to call my new recipe for my almost 7 months old daughter: Basil Blast

We are used to taking long walks everyday, but when the sky looks like this

we considered staying in is a better option… So for the easy recipe you will need the following:

  • 5-6 fresh Basil leaves
  • 2 gloves of garlic
  • 2 small sized zucchini cut in cubes Image
  • 10ml of extra virgin olive oil
  • Pink Himalaya salt Image

As usual the preparation of this is really easy and quick. First you cook the garlic and the cubes of zucchini in the olive oil. After 5-6 minutes you add water, around 200 ml,  and a bit of Himalayan salt (I usually put 2-3 crystals). After the water has evaporated a bit and the zucchini is soft you can add the basil leaves and leave it another 3 minutes. In the end blend everything and Enjoy!

So what can you do to keep your baby entertained when there is no possibility of walking in the park, visiting grandparents or enjoying the sun? I noticed that every time my baby sees a book she starts screaming and laughing. Last night I was reading in my bed, listening to some music and she was right by my side. The second she saw my book she just grabbed it and started looking at every inch of it. She turn it around and started laughing. What I find interesting is that she never takes a book to her mouth like she does with everything else…

So as a fun activity, every time I read she “reads”. I give her all sorts of books, the more colorful the better.

Another fun activity we had this Sunday was the baby hand and foot print in clay. Clay impression kits make taking your baby’s footprint or handprint in super soft impression clay so quick and easy. A beautiful memento for any new parent, the clay handprint kit allows the memory of your newborn to stay with you forever.

You can easily find them on-line just search for “baby handprint kit”.

While playing, It may take your newborn several seconds to respond to you or he or she
may not respond much at all. Be patient — you may need to keep trying
or wait a while for your baby to enter an alert, responsive state.Three to six month olds begin to pay more attention to the world around them. Positive interactions, filled with language and sensory exploration, are beneficial to your baby’s learning. If your baby is interested and involved in an activity—and having fun—he/she is learning!  It isn’t necessary to “teach” very young children. Treasure these early days of playing and cuddling with your little one—it is exactly what he/she needs to grow and learn.Six to nine month olds are explorers. They like to try things to find out what happens (cause and effect). They are beginning to move with some skill, sitting up, crawling and even beginning to stand. Babies of this age are interested in new things and people but, at the same time, often are afraid of strangers. They enjoy watching and responding to the things going on around them and like to repeat sounds and actions. I usually explain everything to my baby girl even though I know she does not understand yet…but she will and I do not want to let these beautiful moment slip away.
